What Customers Say About Black & Decker Complete Home Repair (Black & Decker Complete Photo Guide):

This book is well written along with a lot of picture diagrams. An all around helpful book for the home repair folks like me.
Gave this to my son, a new home owner, as a Christmas gift. I like it because the photos help you understand what you are doing.
could be significant and remains in the main competitor to the volume, The Readers Digest Complete Do-It-Yourself Manual. While the new version reorders some text and changes some photography to make the book more readable it does suffer compared to the 2004 edition in two respects. The new 2008 edition of Black and Decker's Home Repair continues the tradition of excellent photography and comprehensive coverage of the vast majority of common, and not so common, home repairs. Also the page stock and binding while thick and excellent in the 2008 version will no longer open flat as in the 2004 version making the text more difficult to set out next to your project for reference. The 2008 version leaves out several significant chapters on basic tool skills, common tool sets, and small projects (such as building a workbench) that would assist the home repair do-it-yourselfer and focuses solely on the by task repair descriptions. For the novice DIY'er the loss of text describing different nails, how to work power tools, etc. The 2008 version retains all the excellent photos and text descriptions of countless home repairs but removes important ancillary information and quality of binding that truly put previous versions of this book over the top. Highly recommended but if you can get the 2004 version that may be a better option.
Great photos. Great book. Wide range of topics. Clear. Concise. Very practical. I've decided to give it to my son and will order a secnd for me.
I Searched a lot for the right DIY book and this was the best option I found. I liked the pictures and the advice. I thought it very thorough. Of coruse things don't always go as easy or smooth as discussed in the book, but that is hardly the book's fault.
